"My watercolor paintings are an expression of what I enjoy around me. I am always thinking about light and how it moves over, through, and around my subject matter. Light creates interesting geometric shapes and shadow forms. Nature supplies endless ideas for my paintings. I also enjoy setting up still life's and creating a story through them. The free flow of watercolor paint is an exciting challenge for me. With the use of vigorous strokes and a wide palette of color, I can express energy, emotion, and movement in my watercolor paintings. I paint directly without sketching or outlining my subject matter before applying paint to paper. When I create a series of paintings, the works are more realistic in the beginning, then gradually become more abstract towards the end of the series."
