Artist Statement

Moving from detailed graphite portraits to a more transitional approach to my work has been refreshing. It feels more natural when creating representational marks for each element of a painting rather than obsessing over every minute detail. Focusing more on shadow and how light hits surfaces enables me to create interesting organic movement through somewhat abstract shapes. Each new piece provides an opportunity to construct something completely unique.
