Robert H. Smith
Since I was big enough to hold a pencil I have had a love for art, and that love carried into college where I gained a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Painting/Drawing and Sculpture from the University of Georgia, and a degree in Design Principles and Production from the Art Institute of Atlanta. I have worked in a variety of non art related fields, but have always continued doing art work, whether it is in the form of commissioned portraits, work for family members and friends or sometimes just for myself. I have studied with Georgette Liberatore in Fairburn, Georgia, since May of 2007, and in that short time have improved significantly my painting techniques and color consciousness. Georgette is a great painter and teacher with over 35 years of experience to her credit.
Basically I paint, draw or sculpt what interests me, or what grabs my attention. I usually work from photographs that I take, and carry a camera in my car just in case I see something that inspires me. My wish is for the viewer to see one of my art pieces, and wonder what else is happening behind the scene, besides what he or she is viewing. In that way I have invited the viewer to become an active member along my artistic journey.
